Thomas Appleyard, MSW, MBA is a seasoned management consultant and trainer with a breadth of expertise, including:
· emergency & risk management
· occupational & psychological health & safety
· pandemic planning / response / recovery
· policies & procedures
· skills for new managers
Thomas has worked extensively in the camp and health care industries. He has over 20 years of experience in emergency management, including as Manager of Emergency Response & Recovery with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. In addition to his consulting work, Thomas is Part-Time Faculty at the Schulich School of Business
Eric is an advocate and an active expert in the areas of drowning and injury prevention
· He owns and operates swimming and cpr training centres in Toronto
· As an Aquatic Safety Inspector National Lifeguard Instructor/First Aid Trainer and Examiner, Eric works with a variety of organizations training staff and participants to be prepared in case of an emergency
· Eric is a former camp director for day and overnight camps
· Eric is Past President of the Ontario Camps Association, former Vice President OCA, Past Standards Chair of OCA and Past Co-Chair of the Crisis Response Manual
· Eric is an active member of the Canadian Drowning Prevention Coalition representing the Canadian Camping Association
· Eric is a certified teacher having taught with the York Region District School Board for 12 years
Eric has been working closely with OCA camps and Outdoor Education centres for the past 30 years. He has a passion to help camps build on their safety plans to enhance their injury prevention programs / training. Eric is a regular speaker at conferences, panels, podcasts and interviews.
Robin Squires, Partner at BLG, grew up at PineCrest, Arowhon, and Taylor Statten Camps before reaching his goal of becoming a Camp Director. Robin was the Camp Director of RKY Camp (Kingston Family YMCA) for eight years before becoming a lawyer. Robin advises the OCA and many camps and outdoor centres, and helps them navigate their legal needs. Because he understands the challenges of running a summer camp, he can quickly and practically identify the legal resources best able to assist you.
Bev Unger is a Registered Nurse, who has been involved in camp operations for 40 years. From camp counsellor to director, her passion and main body of work has been in camp health at day and overnight camps. For 30 years Bev has been an active volunteer with the Ontario Camps Association. As the Director of Health and Wellness at a summer day camp she has firsthand knowledge of current needs in the camp health field. She has worked and consulted in both the not for profit and the private sectors. In addition to her camp life Bev works as an RN in the community at a college wellness centre and with children who are medically fragile. She is thrilled to be the mom of adult Quadruplets.
David has over 20 years of operational experience as a residential overnight camp leader. He spent 15 years at Camp Walden as the Assistant Director and recently was a consult and Summer Director of Camp Winston.
He is an expert in building a camp culture that supports and honours all stakeholders. His focus includes senior team strategic planning and goal setting , policy review and implementation, family engagement and staff training.
David is a recently retired school principal in the TDSB with extensive training in the areas of inclusion and equity and as such can support camps in creating a positive, safe, and welcoming culture.
His strength is opening dialogue to create deep conversations about real scenarios in your camp.
Suzanne is a Community Mental Health Practitioner who combines primary mental health support with the development of policy and training strategies at the organizational level.
She is attending the University of Toronto for a Masters of Education, in Adult Education and Community Development. Suzanne has provided training for groups such as CNIB, BMW Group Canada, and Second City Toronto.
In-person and virtual training available.
Suzanne is the founder of Elevation Mind Aid, a training and consulting firm operating in the GTA.

Suzanne is also a trained Emergency Medical Dispatch Operator.
